The Amazon Kindle Fire 2012 and Kindle Fire HD tablets have been awaited for some time and now they finally reached Europe. Amazon just started shipping the 7-inch tablets in Europe today and they come at really competitive prices.
The 8GB Kindle Fire is priced at €159 with special offers included, which can be removed by paying an extra fee. The Kinfle Fire HD is priced at €199 with 16GB of internal memory and €249 with 32GB. It also comes with special offers, which can be also removed.
Special offers consist of a bunch of ads bundled in the tablets, that are able to lower the tablet’s price, while generating income for Amazon.
Unfortunately Amazon’s Kindle Fire and Kindle Fire HD don’t enjoy all of Android’s openness. They don’t come with Play Store and there’s no way to install it, other than rooting the device. The Android UI has been also highly modified in order to be more focused on Amazon’s content.
The Amazon Kindle Fire features a 7-inch 1024×600 IPS display, WiFi, a 1.2Ghz dual-core OMAP4430 processor, 16GB of internal memory, an 8.5 hours battery life, and it weights 400 grams.
The Kindle fire HD features a 7-inch 1280×720 HD LCD display, dual-band 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz WiFi, the same 1.2Ghz dual-core OMAP4430 CPU, 16GB or 32GB of internal memory, 11 hours of battery life and it weights 395 grams.
