Although HTC usually announces consumers that their devices is on the verge of getting a software upgrade, something must have changed in recent times as Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is now available for download for HTC Sensation users in Nordic countries.
The build number is actually Android 4.0.3, meaning that HTC must have made some changes. Although the users haven’t reported “unusual” features, it’s very likely that the Taiwan-based company has fixed some bugs, tweaked some settings, and then ousted the Ice Cream Sandwich to Nordic folks.
A separate report also states that the HTC Sensation XE is also getting the Android 4.0 ICS update in Germany. These rollouts are being made gradually therefore it might take a while until they’ll be available for all Europeans, and then for the rest of the world.
One thing that is worth mentioning is the fact that HTC devices are also rocking a new Sense user interface with a version number of 3.6. Sadly, there is no official changelog available therefore we cannot possibly confirm what is new in them, other than what we already know from Google.
If you live in Europe, and own a HTC Sensation or Sensation XE, then you should go to your device’s settings, and hit the Check Update button. Maybe there’s a surprise waiting for you! If you know what you are doing, then you can manually download and install the official Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich built for the HTC Sensation.
Download the files here, and install them on your device. Please note that it will only work for Sensation owners, not for Sensation XE. If you don’t listen to this warning, then you will probably brick your smartphone and you will go through a lot of trouble getting it back.
