Those of you who own the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 can get excited as the long awaited Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS update has just been released. I know that this is coming a little bit too late, as Jelly Bean is almost here, but better late than never am I right? So, you will be able to update your Galaxy Tab 7.7 with this official firmware, but only by using the Samsung KIES tool. The software can’t be OTA received, at least not for now. Anyway, more aspects about this update, along with the markets where it will be available, are being summarized during the next lines.
This update can be applied by all the users, so if your Galaxy Tab 7.7 is currently running a custom ROM firmware but you still want to install this firmware, you will be able to do so. Furthermore, by updating with this official ICS ROM you will be able to restore the warranty (it will get void once you flash a beta software) and the factory restrictions as the bootloader will be relocked. But remember that only some of its users will be able to receive the upgrade file, at least for now. According to Samsung, only the next countries are now embracing the ICS flavor:
- United Kingdom
Also, the ICS update can be applied on your Galaxy Tab 7.7 only by using the Samsung KIES program. So you need to have access to a Windows running computer and you need to download the KIES on the same. Then, connect the tablet with the PC and through KIES check if there is any OS update available for you. IT’s important to make this operation as the official ICS ROM is coming with numerous features for your tablet, the full list of them being displayed in the image from below:
That’s all for now, but stay close as we will update you with further news as soon as something fresh comes out. The OTA method will be made available soon and also other countries will be added to the above mentioned list. So, finger crossed and wait for news to come.
