ASUS PadFone Update To Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean Now Available

While the owners of the Asus PadFone 2 had their devices updated to Android Jelly Bean at the end of 2012, the users who have the original PadFone handset have been somehow forgotten. However, it seems that their luck is about to change as Asus has made the wise decision of pushing the Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean update for the original PadFone, as well. Apart from the Android version upgrade, this software also comes with several improvements that with fix the issues of some other areas of the PadFone.

So, here are the changes that will be applied by installing the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update: the operating system will be upgraded to Android 4.1.1; the dictionary feature will be improved; the Camera preview feature will be revamped; enhanced Scrapbook app; enhanced File Manager app. Besides these improvements, the Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean update will also improve the Volume Key issue and will enable the PadFone to have support for SD card NTFS & EX Fat format.

At the moment there are two versions of the Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean update for the Asus PadFone, namely WWE (Worldwide) and CHT (China), but other versions meant for other regions will be released in the near future.

The PadFone was released back in June 2012 and it has been running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich since then. With the installation of Android 4.1.1, the device’s users will notice a big difference in terms of software features. Also, the Asus PadFone has a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 960 x 540 and a pixel density of around 256 ppi. The display is protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass. The device is powered by a Qualcomm MSM8260A Snapdragon SoC, which includes a Dual–core 1.5 GHz Krait CPU and an Adreno 225 GPU.

The handset also has 1 GB of RAM, 16/32/64 of on-board storage, which can be expanded via microSD card, an 8 megapixel primary camera with autofocus and LED flash capable of recording 1080p video, and a secondary VGA camera.
