Last, month we anticipated that the LG Optimus L9 will receive the Android Jelly Bean update that will make the device stand next to most handsets when it comes to the operating system. The LG Optimus L9 was released around three months ago in Europe, and after all this time when its users have waited for a firmware upgrade, it is finally here. With this new software the owners of the Optimus L9 will finally get to enjoy all the cool features that comes along with Android Jelly Bean. It will surely be a big change as the device was launched running Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich.
It seems that the Android Jelly Bean Update for the LG Optimus L9 is already available in several European countries including Germany, Romania, France, Portugal, Italy, Poland, Greece, Hungary, Spain and the countries near the Baltic Sea. Unfortunately for the US citizens, the LG Optimus L9 Jelly Bean update is not available at neither of the major local mobile operators, but we expect that T-Mobile is going to roll it out in the near future, we just don’t know when exactly.
But for those lucky enough to get it, can update your LG Optimus L9 to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean using the LG Update Tool, but OTA too. You should know that the software has around 575MB, so you better find a good internet connection in case you don’t want the downloading process to last for ever.
Even though it has been a while since the Optimus L9 has been released, and the update is coming rather late, it seems that LG is starting to become a more reliable company when it comes to software updates. The South Korean phone maker doesn’t have such a good reputation as it usually makes its customers wait for a long time until they receive an upgrade, if they receive it at all. It looks like the company wants to change its strategy, and it clearly needs to do it if it wants to become one of the major players of the Android market.
The LG Optimus L9 sports a 4.7-inch qHD display and it’s powered by a dual-core 1GHz Cortex A9 CPU, ehich is helped by a PowerVR SGX540 GPU. The device also comes with 1 GB of RAM, a 5 MP rear-facing camera capable of recording 1080p video, 4 GB of on-board storage space which can be further expanded via a microSD card.
Are you excited of the new Android 4.1 Jelly Bean Update for your LG Optimus L9? Have you received yet?
