Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean OTA Update pushed out for the T-Mobile US Galaxy Tab 2 10.1

T-Mobile Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 updated to Official Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean

It seems like T-Mobile and Samsung released today the official Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean OTA Update for the 10.1 inch version of the Galaxy Tab 2 device. Keep an eye on your tablet’s notification panel to update it today to the latest available Jelly Bean firmware.

Yesterday we told you that the Galaxy Tab 2 was being tested on Jelly Bean firmware, and that the Android 4.2.2 JB will be the last official update offered by Samsung. It seems that the testing went great and today we saw the tablet receiving the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean OTA upgrade files. This new update brings tons of new features for your tablet and a major overhaul of the entire UI.

Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean for T-Mobile US Galaxy Tab 2 has its firmware model set to T779UVTMC1. You can update your tablet via Samsung KIES or you can simply wait until the official OTA Upgrade notification is pushed to your tablet. You will get the brand new Google Now service from Google which you can use to display traffic, weather, sports, news, locations and any info you want to check from time to time from your device. Also, you will get an improve keyboard with Swipe-like function, the Project Butter will improve the entire interface so that you will get a ‘buttery-smooth’ feel whenever you will move through screens and menus.

The update is available only for United States models on T-Mobile. Android 4.1.2 JB for T-MO Galaxy Tab 2 10.1-inch tablet uses the kernel version 3.0.31 and its build number is JZO54K on T779UVTMC1 baseband. Note that you will be able to update only if your device is running stock firmware. We aren’t that this will work for rooted tablets but, you can try to update through KIES and you will see that after updating to Jelly Bean 4.1.2 your tablet will have its root access revoked.

If you’re currently using a custom ROM on your tablet then you will have to restore it to stock Android 4.0.4 ICS before trying to flash this official OTA Update on your device. If you’re planning to upgrade your tablet using ODIN and flashing it manually then you will have to download the official Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean T779UVTMC1 firmware file from here.

Do you plan on updating your T-Mobile US Galaxy Tab 2 10.1-inch variant to Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean firmware? If you’re considering not to update, then you’ll be making a big mistake as the Jelly Bean is a major update and it will improve and tweak every single part of your tablet’s UI and software.
