It looks like Verizon and Motorola are very generous in this period of time. After the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean firmware upgrade was rolled out for the Motorola Droid RAZR, the carrier has begun pushing the Android 4.1.2 update for the Motorola Droid RAZR HD.

So, the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update will enhance your Droid RAZR HD with several new software features like a revamped notification system, improved usage performance, fixes and improvements to the Wi-Fi, security enhancements, a couple of camera improvements, and other minor additions.

The Android 4.1.2 ┬áJelly Bean update for the Motorola Droid RAZR HD should arrive pretty soon. However, if you don’t want to wait for the notification you can install the software manually. In case you haven’t manually updated you device before you should know that you need to have the official Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean as you current Android version in order to work. In other words, if you have done any modifications to the OS, you have no other option than to root the smartphone, and un-root it before you install the upgrade. You should also know that apart from the Droid RAZR HD, the update can be installed on the RAZR MAXX HD, as well.

So, the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update can be installed on the Motorola Droid RAZR HD and the RAZR MAXX HD, model number XT926. In order to do that, you phone must have a microSD card because the software cannot be installed from the device’s on-board storage.

Also, your operating system has to be the on stock Android 4.1.1 with system version 9.1.41. You can check the system version of your handset by heading to Settings > About phone. The battery of the phone must be fully charged because the process might take a while.

You can download the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean Update for your Motorola Droid RAZR HD and RAZR MAXX HD from HERE.

Just got it on my DRIOD4 this morning.

Got update this morning without issue. Must say I am very disappointed with changes in text screen color…VERY hard to see had to increase brightness which in turn will cause faster battery drain. Also dislike larger ‘end call’ button hung up on 2 people by accident today already. Ugh. This has not been a benefit to me so far!

it won’t let me change my mode to mass storage …… anybody know what wrong

    • Rick

Jellybean has no support for USB mass storage. It never did.

I updated to the 4.1.2 on my regular Razr and all seems OK except there no longer is an option to message a contact group. Before , I just selected the group, hit the option key and selected the msg type, email, MMS, SMS. Now the options are only add or delete. Any suggestions?

The OTA for Verizon’s Maxx HD came up after manually checking for updates about 11pm on 20 March

It said it would take 15 minutes for the install after downloading 96 mb, but it only took about 5 minutes and seems to be working okay.

This update really sucks on my Razr Maxx. Can’t set ringtones the way they were. Won’t read all the ringtones I had on my phone. Why can’t they leave things alone when they are working! Also I have my phone set to “no lock” and now when the phone rings I have to unlock the screen and it auto answers. No more options to ignore. Bad bad bad

stupid update! you can no longer use bluetooth internet tethering, android made deal with verizon to get rid of this feature so that you re now forced to use other means of tethering either third party or verizon themselves….with a fee of course. so sad. please google “verizon fcc fine” this is why they want to screw their loyal customers.

I have the Droid Razr. I have lost all 3G and 4G service since the update. The only time it works is if I’m at home and connected to the wi-fi. I can’t look up anything on the phone, even the weather, unless I’m at home with the wi-fi on. What is causing this?

jelly bean is sucking battery life twice as fast now as before. still cant make a call with my phone without it dropping it. wish i had my old alltel phone back! my sticky note list also got deleted, now i don’t remember what was on that list of things i was supposed to do. not happy with the update.

What is this security activation after the update? It look s a Google or gmail update that gives them control to litterally brick the phone.

I have been an avid Android user for several years now but Google has royally screwed up with this new 4.1.2 update. My phone no longer recognizes my SD card and my pictures are missing. Verizon said there seems to be a problem reading SD card but it was working just fine less than an hour before the update. My coworkers and I were taking pictures and comparing the quality of her IPhone to my Bionic ( I was trying to convince her that the Android of phones was better than the Apple. I was kinda eating my words after I was complaining about the update and arguing with Verizon. She looked at me and asked “so why did you say that Android is better than Apple again?”) The apps and widgets are not functioning properly. I have an extended battery and it drains extremely fast. The UI looks like a child designed the drop down task bar. It is very large and boxy. I do not like anything about this new update. They did not properly test this before rolling it out. Verizon said they cannot do anything about it because the operating system belongs to Google and we are required by the EULA to have the latest version of the operating system installed. The phone gets extremely hot and generally is useless at this point. I was just convincing my coworker to get an Android over another IPhone but now I am reconsidering. I know this is a knee jerk reaction and hopefully they will get this fixed but sadly this is making my phone useless. Everything was working just fine until the update. I spoke to Verizon and they said “That is weird; we haven’t had any complaints on any of these issues so far.” I had already told them I had already visited this forums page and read that others had been on the phone with Verizon for hours. I replied “I already sent you the link showing where many others are having this problem and had been on the phone with your tech support for hours.” The rep abruptly changed the subject “Let’s try and do a master reset on your phone”. Never another word about others having the same issue. They just said they would send a report to Google. I hope they can do something to undo the damage they did. I know that not everyone is having these issues; consider yourself lucky. I do not directly blame Verizon but I cannot really use my phone that I am paying a hefty price for and their only solution was to send a report to Google. My contract is up in June and I will have to really consider my choice of operating systems and depending on how long this last and how Verizon chooses to handle this, possibly my carrier. I hate Apple and Microsoft but Google just joined the list. I will have to play with my wife’s IPhone and see if it is something I can learn to like and take a look at the Windows phone. I would much prefer Google just fix this mess so I can stay where I am. This is much more than someone who does not like change, my phone is not functioning properly and causing a miserable time to try and use it. It is kind of like booting the computer in safe mode. My browser, which is Chrome, opens then abruptly closes, my weatherbug app opens then says no network detected, my camera opens but won’t store or allow me to view my pics. So as I say, this has caused the phone to be a dumb phone and greatly impacted my user quality.

No complaints. I’ve read the list of issues provided by others, but have experienced none. Phone works great, even a little faster. I have a droid Razer and my only issue is the battery life, but hat has always been an issue with this phone. I’ve had an Apple, hated it.
