Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean Update for Samsung Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 Coming May/June

A tweet by @SamMobile says that the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update for Samsung Galaxy S3 and Samsung Galaxy Not 2 will roll out as of May or June.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 is the best-selling Android smartphone so far, while the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 phablet comes pretty close behind, being two of the most successful devices of the South Korea-based company. Millions of customers are currently owning a Samsung Galaxy S3 or a Galaxy Note 2, so rolling out the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update for the two best-sellers should not surprise you.

Since the South Korea-based company is wanting to show us how much they care for their users and in the same time wanting to provide the best support for them, the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update for Samsung Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 will keep the users of the two high-end smartphones up to date with the latest version of Samsung’s Nature UX.

Since the Samsung Galaxy S4 will be the first smartphone of the South Korea-based company running on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, the firmware update will bring some of the features that debuted on the new flagship to the Samsung Galaxy S3 and Samsung Galaxy Note 2.

The TouchWiz Nature UX received a slightly revised design, therefore, after you update your Samsung Galaxy S3 or Samsung Galaxy Note 2 to Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean you will also be able to enjoy it. Besides the design improvements, the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean will also bring some Jelly Bean-specific features like lockscreen widgets, Quick Settings in the notifications area, expandable notifications, and many other goodies.

Samsung wanted to bring the Android experience even further, and each new high-end smartphone debuted, new features were included in ToouchWiz UI. The Samsung Galaxy S3 brought Smart Stay, Smart Alert, Pop-up-Play, or Direct Call, while the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 brought Air View and Multi View.

Well, the Samsung Galaxy S4 continues the company’s tradition and introduces innovative features like Smart Scroll, Smart Pause, or finger Air View and we’ll most likely see many of them on coming on the Samsung Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 via the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update. The Samsung Galaxy S4 also introduced some interesting camera features and probably some of them will be included in the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update for Samsung Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2.

Anyway, we are recommending you to take the rumor with a pinch of salt as the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update for Samsung Galaxy S3 or Galaxy Note 2 was not confirmed by the South Korea-based company.

Are you eager to update your Samsung Galaxy S3 or Galaxy Note 2 t Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean? Is May – June time frame to late? Please let us know in the comments section below.

Too late …. we want it faster !!!!

Buy a Google phone and you will get it first. ‘Til then, quit your crying. Google releases the update to the OEMs and it is up to the OEMs to when the update gets released and to which handsets. The phone companies want to add all of their bloat-ware to the update first.
I just got my Nexus 4 two days ago and it runs great with 4.2.2. And coming in October, I’ll be updating to Key Lime Pie while you folks finally get use to 4.2.2. Maybe lol

      • Silver Mask

To be honest.. i am waiting for the features of the samsung software more than the android OS update…

      • jcoppola33

i would rather have all of samsungs software add ons, stock jb on my nexus 7 feels so plain for a smartphone

      • Jephrey

Too bad I’m running cyanogenmod. I’ll get it around the same time you do. Plus, Android version isn’t were innovation come from. Touch wiz 4.1.2 seems to have more features than Android 4.2.2. Might switch back. We’ll see.

Can the Android 4.2.2 be updated to Samsung galaxy note GT-N7000 and is thid update available in India

    • Daniel

Galaxy Note will be updated upto 4.2.2 but not 5.0. But Samsung Note 2 does!

  • Too late

I am aware of testing but… Android 4.2 has been officially releasee in november 2012…can they take so long recompile and test it? They obviously had pre-releases much earlier.
Unfortunately this is doesn’t happen only with Samsung but almost with any vendor but Google’s “own” phones.

  • Twittit

june. 9 month later geting 4.2.2 like geting a baby

  • Eddie J Camacho

This is starting to become like apple I just bought a gs3 now I’m
pissed, I left Motorola cause of this same crap with software updates,
I’m starting to hate the choices these oppressive corporate people take,
first and last phone purchase I will ever make this is upsetting.

  • J.M.

Google need to take an Apple approach to updates: Don’t announce it until it’s ready! Apple has the same time constraints as the rest of the bunch. The only thing that makes their updates look like the get them quicker is they announce them after all the testing is completed. Not having to negotiate with carriers about bloatware is only a small part of the hurdle.

    • ben

lol Google announces when it is ready, Samsung needs time to compile and test the new OS before it can release it as an official update

  • Wait. Did someone say “Android 4.1.2 and Samsung Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2”? (talk about beating a phrase to death to improve search rankings…. article could have been half the length using “S3, S4 and Note 2”, and even shorter were it not so darned redundant in other ways.)

But I digress. Samsung is only a small part of the delay. Just wait (and wait and wait and wait and wait and wait) until Verizon does it’s crappy mods to it, and it’ll be 2014.

We should thank Samsung for succeeding in keeping our products up to date, unlike the past, where i complained about samsung creating excellent products without updates. (Omnia HD i8910) Keep it up samsung and please keep updating our purchased samsung products keeping them up to date as you are doing now. (Galaxy series).

A proud samsung Galaxy Note 2 owner

    • Daniel

mee tooo! Galaxy Note 2 Owner!
Hey, will we get the air gestures or airview by hand without the Spen?

  • shiva

  • sands

  • whatovit

  • Marc_L_B

Will this next update be able to let you send emojis and not just see them…. Because that will be really cool!!!!! Plz Samsung developers… let that be a default setting so you can see them on every site and also post them on every site….. EMOJI EMOJI EMOJI…. REPOST PLZ SO THEY WILL NOTICE THIS!!!

  • kinerang

Well my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is currently doing a software update with little screen image and bent green upwards arrow. Does that mean it’s already getting Jelly bean 4.2.2 now?

  • name

    Long overdue

  • brandonk

Almost to late. 4.1 screwed my Bluetooth up something bad. In call and audio streaming. Hopefully they fix this. This is a major major issue that needs to be addressed. S3

    • Rekha

I am using an S3 without any issues, its better with JB than in ICS. I don’t think you really own a S3.

  • Charlemagne Solanor

The update should include a fix for battery drain. The battery drain is killing me.

    • chito1202

If you root your phone there’s plenty of fixes for battery drain. Me personally , I use CPU sleeper, it only allows one cpu to be active while your screen is off. I haven’t charged my phone in a whole day and I’m still going at 30%

  • A. Davis

Don’t hold your breath waiting to see an update from Samsung; the company has no reason to update your devices especially when it will just announce the Galaxy S5, and Note 3… with Android 5.0 as soon as sales for the S4 slows.

  • spaul40

I purchased 2 Galaxy S3’s on their opening day. They have upgraded the OS once already to 4.1.2. I look forward to when they bring out 4.2.2 hopefully before the end of summer. Will be buying the S4 or (by that time) the S5 when my 2 year contract is up.

  • My Note 2 still kicks everyone’s flabby little backside. JB 4.2.2.will just be gravy.

  • It says on the official site of Jelly bean that this last update will make the phone faster, smoother, stronger. (or something of that nature) Well it has done just the opposite! I am so angry that I was so excited about the lastest update. my phone keeps freezing on my every couple of hours! SOB!

  • krishna

im dieing to update my gaxaly note 2 plz bring 4.2.2 jellybean….plz…plz…plzzzz

  • vikas pareek

Well m really excited for jellybean 4.2.2..and ya because of this excitement I feel its too late

  • Fetter

You whiney babies realize the phone carrier holds this up even more? Complain to them first that they need to stop filling it with their bloatware and just realease the damn software!

  • wendigo

I think when a new update is created it should be released quickly. You dont see apple holding back their updates for months. And I hope this update fixes all the problems 4.1 gave me.

  • Jayar Sevilla Pingol

i want JB 4.2 for my Note 2…

  • Karim Bayoumi

To be honest, I wouldn’t complain much about it, but it would make a HUGE difference to me if Samsung is able to release updates at a quicker pace than that.

  • Gautam

What is the use of buying such a high end mobile of Samsung if i don’t get the updates. Then might as well buy Micromax etc
