After we’ve heard that Galaxy Note 2, Galaxy S3, and Galaxy S4 are all getting Android 4.3, now it’s time for another Samsung device to get a new Android version. Sammobile writes that the Korean company is pushing Android 4.2.2 update (XXDMJ1) for the WiFi-only variant of the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 in Germany.
The Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 P5110 is currently running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, so you will get a couple of useful features after you update it to Android 4.2.2. Besides Samsung’s own software customizations, the Android 4.2.2 update for Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 will bring Daydream, QuickSettings in notification area (with dedicated toggles that control various functions of the tablet), lockscreen widgets, stability improvements, bug fixes, and probably better battery life.
Android 4.2.2 XXDMJ1 update for Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 P5110 is being pushed both via KIES and OTA, but it may take a while until the users outside Germany will get the system update notification. Anyway, it’s worth checking for the OTA update even though you’re living outside Germany. In order to do so you have to go to Settings > About tablet > Software update > Check for updates.
Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 was announced in February 2012 and released on the market in May 2012, running Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box. The tablet comes with a 10.1-inch PLS TFT display with 800 x 1280 resolution and Gorilla Glass protection, while the processing tasks are handled by a TI OMAP 4430 chipset with two Cortex A9 cores clocked at 1 GHz and PowerVR SGX540 GPU.
Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 also comes with 1 GB of RAM, 8/16/32 GB storage, expandable using microSD cards (up to 32 GB supported), 3.15 MP primary camera, VGA front-facing camera, and a 7,000 mAh battery.
