The Android 4.3 OTA update is now rolling out for the Cricket variant of the Samsung Galaxy S3, soon after the handset received the same firmware update at Verizon. The Android 4.3 update was resumed for the international variant in November, after the initial roll out was suspended because of the bugs that were affecting the device.
As usual, the Cricket Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.3 update is being rolled out in phases, therefore not all the owners will be able to download and install the new firmware right away. If the system update showed up in the notification area of your Cricket Galaxy S3, all you would need to do is press download then install it on your device. In case the system update notification didn’t pop up, you can also check for it manually under Settings > About phone > Software Updates > Check for updates, but this won’t guarantee that you will be able to download it.
The Android 4.3 update for Cricket Samsung Galaxy S3 has a size of 569 MB, so it’s recommended to download it using a stable WiFi network. It’s also worth mentioning that after you install the Android 4.3 update on your Cricket Galaxy S3 the firmware version will be changed to R530CVVUCMK3.
Besides performance improvements and bug fixes, new software is set to bring Galaxy Gear smartwatch support, revamped UI with Galaxy S4 interface elements, tabbed interface for the Settings menu, move-to-SD-card feature, Note 3 multitasking, expandable and actionable notifications, Quick Settings in the notifications area, lockscreen widgets, Daydream, and other improvements. You will also receive the new and update Samsung apps, including Samsung Link, Group Play and Screen Mirroring, along with a new mode for the Camera app called Sound & Shot. You should also be able to notice battery life improvements and better call quality.
I remind you that the Samsung Galaxy S3 comes with a 4.8-inch HD Super AMOLED display, 2 GB RAM, 16/32/64 GB of microSD-expandable storage, 8 MP rear-mounted camera, LTE, WiFi, Bluetooth, NFC, and microUSB 2.0, while the processing tasks are handled by a dual-core 1.5 GHz Snapdragon S4 processor.
Are there any Cricket Samsung Galaxy S3 owners reading this? Did you guys receive the Android 4.3 OTA update? Please let us know in comments.
