According to an anonymous tip we’ve got our hands it seems like the Official Android 4.4.2 KitKat Update will arrive on the Galaxy S3 LTE this month.
The leaked document says that Samsung is in its final testing phase for the KOT49H.I9305XXUFND5 KitKat firmware. The ‘KOT49H’ confirms that this an Android 4.4.2 OS version which should be ready for a release in May 2014, which is this month. If we were to believe this piece of info, then you can expect the update to roll out in a couple of weeks.
The same documents tells us that their is no official Android 4.4 Update planned for the Samsung Galaxy S3 I9300 International GSM model. There might be some problems with making KitKat work smoothly with the Exynos Quad-Core chipset. Hopefully, Samsung will manage to release KitKat 4.4.2 for the I9300 Galaxy S3 model by the end of this year.
Owners of Samsung Galaxy S3 LTE model number I9305 will be in for a tremendous change when switching from Android 4.3 Jelly Bean to Android 4.4.2 KitKat. The new features added by KitKat consist of a redesigned Settings menu, new white status bar icons, new toggles with better functionality, smoother interface, a better battery life, improved multi-window that will allow better multitasking, and tons of other small features and improvements that should improve the overall Android experience.
The Galaxy S3 LTE device has been launched in May 2012 with the Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich as its default OS. It has gone a long way since and after getting the KitKat Update it will seem like it took a big step forward.
Keep in mind that all these details are not official and we cannot confirm that Galaxy S3 LTE will get Android 4.4 OTA Update later this month. Tell us what you think about this leaked Samsung document and whether you think that the ETA for these updates is real or that is all bogus.
Samsung has released an official statement telling Galaxy S3 I9300 users that the Android 4.4.2 KitKat Update will not be released for them. This means that the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update is the final firmware version supported by the 3G I9300 Galaxy S3 model.
