Android 4.4.2 KitKat Update For Samsung Galaxy S3 Might Come Soon

Samsung Galaxy S3 KitKat

Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for the Sprint Samsung Galaxy S3 has been rolled out already, but users on other carriers are still waiting. Fortunately we’ve now found some more information that indicate an update should be coming soon to other users.

Now we’ve noticed that US Cellular lists the Samsung Galaxy S3 as an Android 4.4.2 KitKat running device, which means they’re going to release the update soon. It’s most likely that Samsung will roll out the Android 4.4.3 KitKat update for the Galaxy S3 internationally very soon and we believe that US Cellular users will be among the first ones to get it.

Unfortunately all rumors indicate that the Galaxy S3 i9300 won’t receive the official update at all. The update should roll only on the following Galaxy S3 devices: GT-I9305, SHV-E210K, SHV-E210L, SHV-E210S, SGH-T999/L, SGH-I747, SGH-N064, SGH-N035, SCH-J021, SCH-R530, SCH-I535, SCH-S960L, SCH-S968C, SPH-L710, SCH-I939 and SCH-S968C.

Other rumors indicate that Samsung is planning to update some of their smartphones directly to Android 4.4.3, though we aren’t sure if the Galaxy S3 is among them yet. Android 4.4.3 should start rolling out very soon and we will find out then what the company is planning with it.

In the meantime it seems like we have to wait for the carriers to certify and approve Samsung’s update for the various Galaxy S3 models, because they’re stalling updates pretty much usually.

The Android 4.4.2 KitKat update is going to come with some new features and speed enhancements for the Galaxy S3, including the Location Settings, Default App Settings, an all-new full-screen immersive mode, and wireless printing. The Location Settings allow you to see how much battery does each location detection feature use and you can disable any one of the features, while the default app settings allow you to modify default apps easier. The full-screen mode allows apps to hide the notifications bar, while wireless printing makes it easier to use a printer directly from your device.

Yeah multi million company cant bring kitkat to GT-I9300 but devs who do it for fun are well on their way. Unfortunately they need sources which samsung wont release as they dont wanna be proved wrong but i9305 sources should be out soon, samsung will be proved wrong….. Foolish sammy, I hope they haven’t given up completely, a last update to fix the annoying issues would be much appreciated by its not-for-long loyal customers.

Got the 4.4.2 kitkat on my Sprint S3.(SPH-L710)..hoping the 4.4.3 is up next…

I own the I9300 and I don’t even want the update, because with KitKat, Google has removed the permission for third party apps to access the external SD which (wtf Google?) really sucks. So I’m not even mad the update isn’t coming and for all the morons like Klejdi90, even Google only updates its devices for 18 month. So do the other Android companies. The GS3 is two years old. Stop whining.

    • Ramiro

They haven’t removed permission for access to the SD card, they just limited access to folders the program created. This will improve security concerns of SD cards because currently apps can install their code on any folder. If anything its third parties fault for not updating their code.

Its clear samsung tried to update then abandoned it because it failed to load system apps. It should be an easy fix for them. If you don’t want it fine, but if you wanna go act like a kid and throw insults what exactly brings you here then? Have a nice day :)

I9300 is with 1G RAM which is not adviseable to use KitKat cause the HP with be unstable. Unlike other HP brand, Samsung are very concern about this.

But it sucks. So far all I’ve noticed is downgraded functionality. Oh and now they want to charge me $3 a month for the same voicemail to text service that I was previously paying $1 for.
