Android 4.4.2 OTA Update for Droid RAZR HD and RAZR HD Maxx Rolling Out

After the Droid RAZR HD and Droid RAZR HD Maxx Android 4.4.2 soak test program begun last week, now we hear that Verizon is now rolling out the new update for everybody. Big Red has updated their support page with the changelog for the Android 4.4.2 update, saying that the new firmware pushed to users as we speak.

As usual, the Android 4.4.2 OTA update for Droid RAZR HD and RAZR HD Maxx will be rolled out in stages, meaning that certain users might not be able to download and install it right away. Once your device becomes eligible to receive the new software, you should receive a system update message in the notification area. Alternatively, you can check for the update manually under Settings > About phone > System updates > Check now.

According Verizon’s website, the new update is labelled 182.46.10 and it arrives with the usual KitKat-goodies such as immersive mode, color emoji support, improved security, new Location menu, SMS integration for Google Hangouts, and better power management, along with transparent status and nav bars, and white status bar icons. You’ll also get Droid Zap 2.0 update, improved WiFi and Roaming, and other bug fixes.

Because we’re talking about a major update expect the Android 4.4.2 update for Droid RAZR HD and RAZR HD Maxx to have a size of over 500 MB. In order to avoid data charges it’s recommended to download the software update file using a stable WiFi network.
