The folks at Sprint officially revealed today that the Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 Android 4.4.2 OTA update is now being pushed to users. According to Samsung’s support page the new firmware is labeled L600VPUANE4.
Just like any other software update, the Android 4.4.2 update for Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 is being rolled out in phases, which means that some of you might not be able to download and install it right away. As soon as the Android 4.4.2 update becomes available for your Sprint Galaxy Mega 6.3 you should be able to see a system update message in the notification bar. Tap on it, choose download, then select install after the download has finished.
You can also check for the Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 Android 4.4.2 update manually under Settings > More > About phone > Software updates > Check for software updates. You can also check for the new firmware via KIES. Grab the USB cable, connect your smartphone to the PC, then launch KIES. If an update is available you should be prompted on the screen.
According to the official changelog posted on Samsung’s website, the new firmware arrives with full screen album art and media controls directly in the lock screen, lock screen camera shortcut, the ability to select a default application for messaging, transparent status and nav bars, white status bar icons, new Location menu, color emoji support, or cloud printing. You should also be able to notice performance boosts, updates for Samsung’s native apps, and improved Samsung Keyboard.
The Android 4.4.2 KitKat OTA update for Sprint Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 might have a size of over 500 MB, therefore it’s highly recommended to use a stable WiFi network while downloading the update file in order to avoid unwanted data charges.
