The Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.4.2 update is now being rolled out for the US Cellular variant of the device. Even though the carrier didn’t officially announce that they are pushing the update to users, US Cellular Galaxy S3 are reporting that they are getting notified to update their smartphones to Android 4.4.2 KitKat.
As I was mentioning above, even though there’s no mentioning of the Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.4.2 update on US Cellular’s support pages, you should start checking the notification area for the system update message. Anyway, the new software update is most likely being rolled out in stages which means that some of you might not be able to download and install it right away.
As soon as your US Cellular Samsung Galaxy S3 becomes eligible to receive the new Android 4.4.2 KitKat OTA update you should receive a system update message in the notification area. Tap on it, the follow the on-screen instructions. You can also check for the new firmware manually under Settings > More > About device > Software updates > Check for software updates, or you can grab the USB cable, connect your US Cellular Galaxy S3 to the PC and check for the update via KIES.
Even though there’s no official changelog for the US Cellular Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.4.2 update, expect the new firmware to arrive with the usual KitKat goodies such as transparent status bar, white status bar iconography, cloud printing, color emoji support, full screen album art in the lockscreen, immersive mode, new Location menu, or Phone dialer app with Caller ID, along with update Samsung native apps, improved Samsung Keyboard, better power management, and performance boosts.
Because the new firmware might have a size of over 500 MB it’s recommended to download the update file using a stable WiFi connection in order to avoid unwanted data charges.
