The Android 4.4.3 update for Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7, Nexus 10 and other supported devices is on its way. After we’ve heard several reports saying that Google will soon begin the roll out and after a Sony Xperia Z Ultra running Android 4.4.3 was spotted at Bluetooth SIG further details about the new firmware surfaced online.
After @googlenexus accidentally tweeted the redesigned phone dialer that will be introduced by the Android 4.4.3 update about a weeks ago, a new screenshot of the phone dialer has hit the web. This time on XDA Developers forum where a user posted the two screenshots below.
If the phone dialer screenshot turns out to be true, then the new interface will be mostly cards based. As you can see in the picture above the cards show a contact picture when available, or a colored box with the first initial if no contact picture is available (like the Gmail app). Anyway, the blue action bar checks out with the one leaked by @googlenexus a week ago.
The same XDA Developers user also provided a screenshot of the About phone section which lists Android 4.4.3 KTU84F running on a Nexus 5. Judging by the kernel version this is still a test build. In fact the guy who took the screenshots (the XDA Developers user has them from a friend of his) seems to be a Googler himself if you take a look at his contacts.
Will the Android 4.4.3 update arrive on the Nexus 5 soon? It definitely will. Will it also be available for the other Nexus and Google Play Edition devices? Most likely. Anyway don’t expect any major interface tweaks. We are skeptical about the implementation of the phone dialer, too, as the update seems to be a bit too big for a 0.0.1 bump.
