Earlier last week, Motorola invited the members of their Feedback Network to participated in the Droid Mini Android 4.4.4 soak tests. Here we are a few days later and the new software update is now officially available for download.
Verizon has announced on their support page that the Droid Mini Android 4.4.4 KitKat OTA update is now live and that it’s being rolled out in stages. This means that some of you might not be able to download and install the new firmware right away. As you may know, once your Droid Mini becomes eligible to receive the Android 4.4.4 KitKat update you should be able to see a system update message in the notification bar. Tap on it, then follow the on-screen instructions.
In case the system update notification fails to appear, you would also want to perform a manual check under Settings > About phone > Software updates > Check now. If this method doesn’t work either, then it could meant that you will still have to wait a couple of days.
The Android 4.4.4 update for Droid Mini has software version 21.11.21.obakem_verizon.Verizon.en.US and according to Verizon’s support PDF it arrives with stability, framework, and security improvements, along with better Bluetooth connectivity.
The new software update also improves the camera picture quality and adds the ability to pause video recording. It also updates the Verizon Cloud and Visual Voicemail apps and adds the ISIS Wallet Mobile app.
