Android 4.4 KitKat OTA Update for Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition is Now Available
Google and Samsung launch the official Android 4.4 KitKat OTA Update today for the Galaxy S4 Google Play edition. The roll out takes place in phases and you shouldn’t worry in case the update notification doesn’t arrive today.
The installation of the new KitKat OS update can be made by simply visiting the Software Update section and taping the install button. If the update isn’t shown, then it wasn’t pushed for your region yet.
Android 4.4 KitKat OTA Update comes with tons of improvements added to the overall UI, it tweaks battery life, better and faster multi-tasking, voice search, QuickOffice already installed, better Google Now, revamped dialpad and Contacts UI capable of displaying info and business caller ID for number that aren’t saved, Google Keyboard with emoji support, SMS support added for Hangouts app, full-screen immersive mode, Bluetooth MAP Support, Chromecast Support, ART support, Closed captioning and others more.
Check for the new KitKat update in Settings> About Phone then Software Updates menu. If the new files aren’t available, then you shouldn’t worry as these will be launched eventually in the next few days.
The announcement of Android 4.4 KitKat OTA Update launch for Galaxy S4 Google Play edition was made on Android’s Google+ page. Remember that you will get the new OS files only if you are on full stock Android, while the modified devices will not get the KitKat notification. If you’ve modified your Galaxy S4 Google edition ROM, then you will need to restore it to a stock ROM before being able to update it.
