When LG made available its Optimus G in September 2012, everyone got excited as the device was indeed a high end smartphone with specs and features capable to impress even a picky Android user; but of course then the Google Nexus 4 was released and the Optimus G was left aside.
Anyway, those who had bought the Optimus G can now update their handset with the latest Android firmware, the Jelly Bean 4.1.2 one as the ROM can be OTA (Over The Air) received and applied by the South Korean users.
So, it seems that LG is moving fast and keeping its promises related to the official Android updates, the Optimus 4X HD handset being next on the upcoming Jelly Bean 4.1.2 list. Of course the ROM will not be launched for all the markets at the same time, but it is a start.
Regarding to the LG Optimus G, as already mentioned, the Android 4.1.2 OS has been released only for the South Korean customers, at least for now. Furthermore, according to our sources, only the LG-F180S (SK Telecom), LG-F180K (KT) and LG-F180L (KG U+) models can receive the Jelly Bean flavor. As usual, each carrier is providing its own version of the update so you have to be patience when it comes to such things.
There are no details or announcements about the worldwide launch of the Optimus G official 4.1.2 firmware, but since the South Korean variant is out, we should see the same available soon. If you just can’t wait, stay close to us because custom ROMs based on the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean OS will be developed and offered by third party devs and we will bring suitable tutorials for you. Until then, that’s all we could find out. Feel free to use our comments area from below for sharing your thoughts with us.
