“…many of the activities we were making exclusively in front
of the PC, like watching videos, browsing the web, or listening to music, have
been ported to smartphones and tablets.” Not just these activities, but for
those of us in the corporate world, many of the work activities once strictly
done using desktops and laptops are increasingly being done via smartphones and
tablets as well. I’m a Symantec employee, so it should come as no surprise that
my view on issues often includes a heavy dose of security mindedness and my
thoughts on this prediction from Gartner are no exception. Whether strictly a
consumer device, a corporate-owned device or a combination of the two (think
BYOD), the fact that more and more of our lives are stored and accessed via
mobile devices underlies the importance of making sure our data and our devices
are secure and well-managed.
