Taiwanese smartphone maker and PC hardware vendor Asus today announced its new ZenFone 4 series lineup at an event held in Taiwan. A total of five new smartphones were announced at the event – ZenFone 4, ZenFone 4 Pro, ZenFone 4 Selfie, ZenFone 4 Selfie, and the ZenFone 4 Max Pro. These new smartphones join the already announced ZenFone 4 Max.
The most expensive of the five new smartphones is the ZenFone 4 Pro. It sports a 5.5-inch Full HD AMOLED display with 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass protection and runs on an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset. It comes in two variants – one equipped with 64GB of built-in storage and the other with 128GB of internal storage. Both variants include 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM and have a microSD card slot to allow for further expansion. At the rear, the ZenFone 4 Pro sports a dual-camera setup with a 12MP primary sensor and a 16MP secondary sensor for 2x optical zoom. On the front is an 8MP snapper with 1.4um pixel size and a wide-angle 87.4-degree lens. Rest of the highlights include a fingerprint scanner, dual stereo speakers, Hi-Res audio, and a 3600mAh capacity battery with fast charging support. The smartphone runs on the Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS out of the box with the manufacturer’s ZenUI 4.0 on top.
The Asus ZenFone 4 too sports a 5.5-inch Full HD display but instead of an AMOLED panel, it uses a regular LCD panel with 2.5D curved Corning Gorilla Glass protection. Under the hood, it runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 octa-core chipset clocked at 2.2 GHz, paired with either 4GB or 6GB of RAM. It gets 64GB of built-in storage, which can be further expanded by up to 2TB with a microSD card. Like the “Pro” model, the regular ZenFone 4 too sports a dual-camera setup at the rear with a 12MP primary sensor and an 8MP secondary sensor. On the front is an 8MP selfie snapper with an 84-degree f/2.0 aperture lens. The smartphone also includes dual stereo speakers, Hi-Res audio support, USB Type-C port, fingerprint sensor, and a 3300mAh capacity battery. In terms of software, the ZenFone 4 run runs on Android 7.0 Nougat with Zen UI 4.0.

The rear camera is a single 16MP unit with phase detection autofocus and a dual-tone LED flash. Key features of the smartphone include a 5.5-inch 720p HD IPS display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 octa-core SoC clocked at 1.4 GHz, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of internal expandable memory, fingerprint sensor, and a 3000mAh capacity battery. It runs on Android 7.0 Nougat OS with the company’s Zen UI 4.0 layer on top.
The ZenFone 4 Selfie Pro is a more impressive handset with a 5.5-inch Full HD AMOLED display. It runs on an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset, paired with 4GB of RAM. It also offers 64GB of built-in expandable storage, 16MP primary camera with phase detection autofocus, 12MP + 5MP dual selfie cameras, fingerprint sensor, Hi-Res Audio, and a 3000mAh capacity battery with fast charging support.
Finally, we have the ZenFone 4 Max Pro. It sports a 5.5-inch Full HD IPS display and runs on either a quad-core Snapdragon 425 or an octa-core Snapdragon 430 chipset, depending on the market. In the memory department, the handset will be offered in 2GB and 3GB RAM variants with 32GB of onboard expandable storage. It sports dual rear cameras with a 16MP primary sensor and a 5MP secondary sensor. The front-facing camera is a 16MP unit with an f/2.0 aperture 76-degree wide-angle lens. Some of the other key highlights include 5-magnet speakers with NXP Smart Amp amplifier, a fingerprint scanner, and a large 5000mAh capacity battery with 10W rapid charging. Like the other new ZenFone 4 smartphones, the ZenFone 4 Max Pro boots Android 7.0 Nougat operating system with Zen UI 4.0.
