ASUS Padfone Infinity Price Is $950, Now Available for Purchase in US

ASUS Padfone Infinity Price

ASUS Padfone Infinity was one of the most appreciated devices that debuted at MWC 2013, with tens of journalists and tech enthusiasts waiting in line at ASUS booth to see the new smartphone tablet hybrid. The metallic design, the high-end technical specifications and the significant upgrade from the previous generation, Padfone 2, might be enough to attract the potential customers. Well, the ASUS Padfone Infinity is now available for purchase in US.

A United States-based retailer is already offering the ASUS Padfone Infinity at a price of $950, which, of course, includes both the smartphone and the Padfone Station. On the European market the hybrid will have a price tag of €999, but I am sure that as soon as the ASUS Padfone Infinity will be on the market for two or three months, the price will receive a cut off, just like it happened with the previous generations.

I remind you that the ASUS Padfone Infinity comes with nano SIM slot, is 8.9mm thin, and weighs in 141 grams (only the smartphone).

The new Padfone Station comes with a 10.1-inch display with a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels, 5,000 mAh battery and a front-facing 1 megapixel camera. On the other hand the handset comes with a 5-inch Super IPS + LCD display with full HD resolution and Gorilla Glass protection.

The ASUS Padfone Infinity technical specs list also includes the already popular Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 chipset, with quad-core 1.7 GHz Krait 300 CPU and Adreno 320 GPU, 2 GB of RAM, and a 13 megapixel camera with full HD video recording support, plus a front-facing 2 megapixel camera.

At the press conference held at MWC, where the ASUS Padfon Infinity saw the light of day, the ASUS Chairman, Jonney Shih said that the terminal will come pre-loaded with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.

Will the ASUS Padfone Infinity be your next Android device or is it too expensive?

Who is the US based retailer? Expansys? Negri Electronics?

    • JCRules

What about a major US cell vendor like AT&T, VZW or Sprint?

      • eszklar

I’m from Canada myself and I don’t think any US cell vendor carrier would carry the PadFone. Same for Canada. The cell vendors would rather sell you a phone plan and then a second tablet plan. The PadFone is too disruptive a device for the cell vendors.

        • JCRules

          What a dirty teaser, ASUS!!!!!

          • eszklar

Well you can get the PadFone. But at $1250 US for the phone+tablet for me personally that’s too expensive. So I’m looking at the Galaxy Note 8 Wifi+3G:

            http://www.expansys.ca/samsung-galaxy-note-8-0-16gb-wifi-3g-tablet-247126/

Again, I’m sensitive to price point. I have a Nexus 7 Wifi+3G and that works just as well for me.

My interest is in the form factor and the combo unit 2 in 1 system. I would like to hear from anyone that has had a substantial enough experience with their Negri purchase and the cellular system they subscribe to. I am already sold to the system. My reservation is having a great machine but a lousy wireless coverage.

          • eszklar

I appreciate your interest in the form factor, again it’s too expensive for me. $1250 gets all kinds of other gear.

          • JCRules

Thanks, eszklar. I appreciate your perspective. Been waiting for this combo for 2+ years now.

Does it matter if a cell carrier carries the phone? All that matters is that it is compatible. All you need from the vendors is a sim card.

          • eszklar

Of course it doesn’t matter if the cell carrier doesn’t carry the PadFone, that’s where 3rd party importers like Negri Electronics, Expansys and Overseas Electronic as mentioned in this thread and the like come in. But at $950 for the phone alone and $1250 for the phone + Infinity Docking Station its just too expensive for me personally. The price need to drop at least $300 for me. A pity as I’d love to run Ubuntu for Phones especially on this combination.

Sim Card and a Unlocked device. I found some on Ebay for under $800. I believe it’s for both the Phone & Tablet.

It’s Overseas Electronic. You can find the Padfone Infinity here: http://www.welectronics.com/gsm/ASUS/ASUS-PADFONE-INFINITY-PHONE.HTML

        Many thanks for the info!!!

      • eszklar

Hmm..checked the site – $950 for the phone only? That doesn’t make any sense.

        Edit: PadFone+Infinity Docking Station: $1250.

  • Shàér Khan

Yes it would be next phone for sure … Waiting for its release in Middle East…

  • Tye

I’m assuming this is also so cheap cuz its the 16GB model (phone only) for $950…and still no micro SD slot…no thanks Asus 3 strikes and GTFOuta the phone market.

    • Georgieff

It`s around $1000 on EBAY.. And it includes the Pad…and it is the 64 GB version… So double check before throwing ASUS in the garbage :)

  • TheFixer

I’d buy one in a second if it came with US 3G. ASUS! Get with the program, QUAD BAND 3G!!!! I would have bought a padfone and a padfone2 also!
