Earlier last week, we presented you a teaser that seemed to suggest that ASUS is getting ready to unveil their first smartwatch at IFA 2014. Now we are back with an ASUS teaser for IFA 2014, but this time we have no doubt that the Taiwanese company will introduce a smartwatch at the Berlin-based tech fair.
The said teaser was posted on ASUS’ Facebook page, the image revealing a sketched render of the company’s upcoming wearable. Rumor has it that the ASUS smartwatch will have partial metal build, while the teaser talks about “sand blasted” and “polished” textures.
If the final design of the ASUS smartwatch has anything to do with the sketch in the teaser, then we might be dealing with the first curved Android Wear-powered smartwatch. This particular feature would make the ASUS smartwatch stand out from the crowd, making it more comfortable for users. As you may know, the likes of LG G Watch or Samsung Gear Live have a flat back, which sometimes is a bit uncomfortable for users with smaller wrists.
The details regarding the new ASUS smartwatch are rather scarce. The specs and pricing are still a mystery, but it was previously reported that the Taiwanese company plans to keep their smartwatch priced bellow the competition. The Moto 360 will reportedly debut at $250 and with G Watch having a price of $229, Samsung’s Gear Live is currently the cheapest Android Wear-powered smartwatch. This means that the ASUS device will probably have a price tag of between $150.
If you are planning to get a new smartwatch, we are advising you to postpone the purchase for after IFA 2014. The Berlin-based event will bring us at least three new interesting smartwatches. Besides the aforementioned ASUS wearable, LG is set to unveil a new smartwatch with a rounded watch face, while Motorola’s highly-anticipated Moto 360 will be come official, too.
Unfortunately, there’s no way to verify the veracity of the reports, therefore we are advising you to take them with a pinch of salt. In fact, nothing is official until ASUS says so. As I was mentioning above, the new ASUS smartwatch will be introduced at IFA 2014. Stay tuned as we will be among to first to bring you fresh details about the Android Wear device.
