AT&T Pushing Android 4.3 Jelly Bean Update for HTC One
A few months ago the folks at HTC promised that the North American HTC One units will be updated to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean by the end of September, but for some reason they didn’t keep their promise. Fortunately, the US division of the Taiwanese company announced today that the AT&T HTC One owners can download and install the latest Android firmware on their smartphones. The announcement was made by HTC’s USA President Jason Mackenzie via Twitter.
You might want to hear that the Android 4.3 update for HTC One weighs 565.7 MB and that it will change your smartphone’s build number to 3.17.502.3. The AT&T update has about the same size as the one recently rolled out be Sprint, meaning that besides the Android 4.3-specific improvements like OpenGL ES 3.0 and better Daydream, you will also be able to enjoy a couple of Sense 5 improvements.
As usual, the software update is rolling out in stages, so it may take a couple of days until it reaches your smartphone if it hasn’t already. In case you didn’t receive the software update notification, you can check for it manually by heading to About Phone > Software Update and hit the Check for updates button.
For the time being the Verizon and T-Mobile HTC One users are still waiting for the Android 4.3 update, but according to one of HTC US’ previous tweets they will get the same treatment by the end of the month.
In case you forgot I remind you that the HTC One was announced in February running Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean out of the box. The handset sports a 4.7-inch full HD Super LCD3 display, quad-core Snapdragon 600 chipset, 2 GB of RAM, 32 GB of internal storage, LTE, NFC, infra red port, and a 4 MP UltraPixel camera with 1080p@30fps video recording support.
Have you received the Android 4.3 update on your AT&T HTC One? If not continue to hit the check for updates button every five seconds. Who knows?
