The second largest US wireless carrier, AT&T today started rolling out a new OTA update for the LG G4 and LG V10 flagship smartphones from last year. The OTA update contains the November security patch update from Google.
The update for the LG V10 carries the build number MRA58K and software version H90021x, weighing in at just 29.1 MB in terms of size. As you can expect from such a small file size, the update does not include any other changes apart from the November security patch. In the LG G4’s case, the update arrives as software version H81022c and weighs in at 273 MB in size. Since the update file size is larger in the G4’s case, we expect some other improvements and bug fixes to be included along with the November security patch, but a detailed change-log isn’t yet available to provide a confirmation.
Even though update is a minor one, we expect AT&T to roll it out in phases, so it might take a few days for the OTA update to show up for all LG G4 and V10 users on the AT&T network. You might see an update notification pop up automatically on your screen when the update is available for your device, but sometimes it might not take longer for the popup to appear. In that case, you can choose to manually look for the software update by going to the Settings Menu and then check for the update’s availability. Before you start downloading the update, it is recommend that you connect your LG G4 or V10 to a Wi-Fi network. However, in the V10’s case, you can download the update over the cellular data network if you do not have access to a Wi-Fi network, as the update size is quite small. It is also important to make sure that you ensure your device has at least 50% battery charge remaining before you start with the OTA update installation.
