A few weeks back, BlackBerry announced the KEYone Black Edition for the Indian market, differing from the global variant in the memory department. The device is now making its way to a few other markets. In Canada, BlackBerry KEYone Black Edition will be available starting next week. Initially, the handset will only be sold by a few retailers and carriers in the country.
The BlackBerry KEYone Black Edition will cost CAD 799 for the unlocked variant, which will be sold by leading retailers such as Amazon, Walmart, and Staples. A few carriers are likely to sell the smartphone as well, but details haven’t been confirmed just yet. The KEYone Black Edition comes with a matte black finish to the device’s aluminum frame, making it look classier than the regular version. In terms of memory, it comes equipped with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The regular version only includes 3GB of RAM and 32GB of built-in storage. As for the rest of the specs, they remain identical to the regular KEYone.
Announced at the Mobile World Congress 2017 in February, the KEYone features a 4.5-inch IPS LCD display with 1080 x 1620 resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection. Below the display is a 4-row physical QWERTY keyboard with an integrated fingerprint sensor. It runs on an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset clocked at 2.0 GHz with an Adreno 506 GPU. Although mainly targeted at BlackBerry fans and enterprise users, the KEYone features an impressive 12MP rear camera that can capture videos at up to 4K resolution. The selfie camera on the front is an 8MP unit capable of Full HD video capture. Connectivity wise, the KEYone offers Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac dual-band, Bluetooth 4.2 Low Energy, GPS with GLONASS, NFC, USB 3.1 Type-C, and 4G VoLTE. There is a 3505mAh capacity battery inside, supporting Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0.
