About a month ago, when they officially introduced the Galaxy S5 during the Unpacked 5 event held in Barcelona, Samsung promised that their flagship phone for 2014 will be made available on over 150 markets starting April 11. Two weeks ahead of Galaxy S5’s international debut, UK retailer Carphone Warehouse announced they are now accepting Samsung Galaxy S5 pre-orders.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 pre-orders begun at Carphone Warehouse March 28th at 12:01 AM. The British retailer didn’t forget to mention that they won’t get the smartphone in stock sooner than April 11 (which is also the global launch date of the device). The handset will be available initially in Shimmery White and Charcoal Black, while the Electric Blue and Copper Gold models are expected at Carphone Warehouse on April 22 and May 20 respectively.
They are selling the Samsung Galaxy S5 16 GB model at £579.95 without contract, or for $0 down if you agree to sign a two-year carrier agreement for a plan starting £42 per month (that’s a Vodafone 4G plan with 3GB of data).
For those unaware, Sammy’s latest flagship smartphone arrives with a 5.1-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display, quad-core 2.5 GHz Snapdragon 801 processor, 2 GB of RAM, 16/32 GB of microSD-expandable storage (up to 128 GB supported), 16 MP primary camera with phase detection autofocus and 4K video recording support, 2 MP secondary camera, and a removable 2,800 mAh battery.
The smartphone runs Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box customized with Samsung’s proprietary TouchWiz UI interface and brings a fingerprint sensor that’s embedded into the Home button and a rear-mounted heart rate monitor right below the camera, next to the LED flash.
