The Japan-based phone maker unveiled its newest flagship smartphone, the Sony Xperia Z2, earlier this week at Mobile World Congress 2014 event in Barcelona. Even though the smartphone is not supposed to hit the market until March, a UK retailer is already accepting pre-orders for it.
Clove Technology has listed the Sony Xperia Z2 as available for pre-order and they are asking £550 (VAT included) for it. In order to sweeten the deal the folks at Clove are also offering a pair of Sony noise cancelling earbuds and a Sony Bluetooth speaker.
According to Clove the earbuds and speaker combo is worth £120, but you will get them for free if you pre-order the Xperia Z2 from them before April 7th. Last year, the same UK retailer offered a free Sony Smartwatch 2 for those who pre-ordered the Xperia Z1.
Clove says that they will start shipping the pre-ordered Xperia Z2 units as of April 7 and that you can get all three body colors from them: white, black, and purple.
As a refresher, the Sony Xperia Z2 comes with a 1080 x 1920 pixels 5.2-inch IPS LCD display, Snapdragon 801 chipset with quad-core Krait 400 CPU clocked at 2.3 GHz and Adreno 330 GPU, 3 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal storage, microSD card slot, 20.7 MP rear-facing camera with support for 4K video recording, 2.2 MP secondary camera, 3,200 mAh battery, and Android 4.4.2 KitKat out of the box.
The Xperia Z2 is 146.8 mm tall, 73.3 mm wide, and 8.2 mm thin, weighs 163 grams and, just like the other high-end Sony devices is both water and dust proof.
For what it’s worth, Samsung’s Galaxy S5 will become available for purchase at Clove on April 11 at a price of £550.
