CyanogenMod, one of the best and most popular custom ROMs for Android devices has just released a bleeding edge ICS version for two Sony devices, the Xperia Arc and Xperia Neo. The CM9 version for the two devices is still highly unstable and not recommended for daily use, but you can give it a try to get some taste of ICS on your smartphone.
Even if there is no word about bugs and functionality, this release means that the CM team are interested in the Sony Xperia Arc and Xperia Neo and are going to work on improving the firmware. Currently the firmware is based on AOSP, along with CyanogenMod’s improvements and customization.
At the moment there’s no information about a stable version release date, but the CM team are working hard to improve their custom ROMs, so it might become usable pretty soon.
We will soon get our hands on the CM9 for both Sony Xperia Arc and Xperia Neo and let you know what works and what doesn’t. Though usually nightly builds are highly unstable and lack many features, so we believe it’s the case for this one too.
Please stay put because we will soon release a guide on how to update your Xperia Arc and Xperia Neo to CyanogenMod 9 ( CM9 ).
