Sony Ericsson Xperia Play was a gaming-orientated smartphone. It had a side-slider with dedicated gaming controls, was announced in February 2011, and released on the market in March 2011.
Sony Ericsson Xperia Play measures 119 x 62 x 16 mm and has a weight of 175 grams. It has a LED-backlit LCD display sized 4 inches diagonally while sporting a resolution of 480 x 854 pixels and a pixel density of 245 ppi.
The device is comes pre-loaded with Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread with Sony Ericsson’s proprietary Timescape UI on top. It integrates a Qualcomm MSM8255 Snapdragon SoC with single-core 1 GHz Scorpion CPU and Adreno 205 GPU.
Sony Ericsson Xperia Play also comes with 400 MB internal storage, support for microSD cards up to 32 GB, and 512 MB of RAM. It has a 5 MP primary camera with autofocus, LED flash, geo-tagging, and 720p video recording support, and a secondary camera with VGA resolution.
In terms of connectivity it arrives with HSPA, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, DLNA, hotspot, Bluetooth 2.1, A2DP, EDR, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, and microUSB 2.0. The smartphone is kept alive by a Li-Ion 1500 mAh battery that it’s capable of delivering up to 31 hours of music playback.
