Flash Unofficial CM11 Android 4.4 custom ROM for Google Nexus 10

The first unofficial CM 11 build based on Android 4.4 KitKat has been released for the Google Nexus 10 tablet. Read this entire tutorial and you will be able to complete the installation without bricking your device. Note that this guide is for those Nexus 10 users who want to tinker with their tablet’s OS, as this is a very early CM 11 release.

Before starting the installation, read the preparation guide below:

  • Use this post only for the Google Nexus 10.
    – don’t update other different Android devices.
  •  Your tablet has to be factory unlocked, rooted and running either CWM or TWRP Recovery.
  • In the ‘how-to’ part of this tutorial you’ll find the ‘wipe data/ factory reset’ step, don’t skip it.
    – note that the factory reset deletes all contents stored on the system partition.
    – factory reset doesn’t wipe data from internal storage.
  • Backup Data from Installed Apps using Helium for Android – link here.
  • Enable USB Debugging from Developer Options.
  • It would be best for you to create a full NANDROID Backup for the ROM that is currently running on your device.
    – this will set a restore point for your tablet, you can use it to repair your device in case it gets bricks in the updating process.
  • Make sure that the tablet’s battery has enough power left before it switches off completely.
  • Read the entire post, don’t skip any steps.
  • Note that we cannot be blamed in case you brick the phone or lose any important data in the process.
  • If you have any other questions, use the comments field at the end of this post.
