Android smartphone with a mini projector included? Yes, that’s the Samsung Galaxy Beam, a low range phone that was worldwide released back in 2012. Even though Galaxy Beam hasn’t been an appreciated device, Samsung decided to develop the Beam 2 which will soon be released in China.
Anyway, what we know for sure is that the Galaxy Beam 2 is ready for its official launch and that China Mobile will be the first carrier to offer this new Android smartphone. It is still unclear whether the phone will be made available for other markets, such as US or Europe, or not but either way I guess that there will be few users interested in buying this device.
Why? Well, basically because we have a mid range smartphone with nothing to impress. Of course, the Galaxy Beam 2 is featuring a mini projector that supports WVGA resolution, but on the other hand the specs are outdated. In that matter you should know that the Beam 2 is bringing WVGA (800×480) TFT display, a 1.2GHz quad-core CPU, a 5-megapixel camera on the back with no front facing shooter, microSD card support and a 2,600mAh battery.
Android 4.2 Jelly Bean will be preinstalled along with a Galaxy S4-like TouchWiz UI. In term of design the Beam 2 is keeping the classic Galaxy line, so nothing spectacular here either. Therefore we have a mid range handset that comes with decent performances and with an outdated OS along with support for a mini projector, that might be useless for most of the Android users out there.
Don’t forget that the Galaxy Beam 2 will be released in China as there is still no info about a worldwide launch. Do share your thoughts about this new Android device with us and with our readers by using the comments section from below.
