It was only yesterday when the folks at AT&T rolled back the Android 4.3 update for their Samsung Galaxy S4 variant and now we hear that another major US carrier is also suspending the software update.
After AT&T, US Cellular has also put the Android 4.3 update for Samsung Galaxy S4 on hold and the guys at Android Police have received the official confirmation from a carrier’s representative. According to the aforementioned publication, the US Cellular statement writes that decision to halt the Android 4.3 update was “made by Samsung and we [US Cellular] are working with them on a new resubmission of the software and will have more details soon.”
Neither AT&T nor US Cellular have detailed why the Android 4.3 update for Samsung Galaxy S4 has been put on hold. Furthermore, neither of the two carriers mentioned when the firmware update will resume the roll out. According to AT&T’s statement the procedure was suspected to allow them or Samsung to “investigate some issues.”
The users that own both a Galaxy S4 and a Galaxy Gear will be the ones most affected by this decision, because, among other improvements, the Android 4.3 update was adding compatibility with Samsung’s smartwatch.
Unfortunately, we can’t tell you when the carriers will resume updating the Galaxy S4 to Android 4.3, but we promise to return with more information as soon as it’s made available.
