Getting bossy with your Android phone and giving it voice commands so it can do tasks for you like sending a message or getting directions to a store is a great feature to have, and recently the new iPhone 4S revealed Siri, an AI that receives voice commands from its user and not just voice commands, you can simply talk to the phone like “Do I need a raincoat tomorrow?” and Siri will analyze what you just said and give you the weather forecast for the next day. Wouldn’t it be great if Android had something like this? Of course some of you are saying, well, Android’s been doing Voice Commands for a long time, but you had strict commands that you had to respect in order to use your voice on Android Smartphones. Android’s been doing it for a long time, but Siri does it right.
Fortunately, there’s a couple of apps out there that can deliver the same experience as Siri, but I might say that they need a bit of polishing and more content. You can go for Google Voice Search or Vlingo, both of them are available for free on Google Play, but they don’t give you what you’re looking for (the dialogue between you and your device). The app that you’re looking for is AIVC, which is Siri for Android. It can be downloaded for free from the same Google Play and it offers you many options and ways to interact with your phone through voice commands and if you want even more, you can go for the AIVC Pro Version which adds a wider range of voice commands for only $2. If you want Siri for your Android device, AIVC is the right app for the job.
Now that you’ve installed AIVC on your Android device, go play with your new friend, which by the way is a girl, her name is Alice (forever alone).
