The new Android 4.2.1 JOP40D firmware OTA update has been pushed to all ‘Nexus’ devices and now it has arrived for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus I9250. The update has been pushed OTA and it is destined for Galaxy Nexus ‘takju’ phones bought from the US Google Play Store.
The new firmware OTA update brings a fix for the December bug, an error that made the People app not show the month of December. This error made users unable to enter birthdays nor any other events for this particular month. Google wanted to release a fix for this bug before the end of this month and there are no other major new features.
The new Android 4.2.1 JOP40D firmware update brings several fixes for the Bluetooth functions, that made it not very stable. Also, users of Galaxy Nexus ‘takju’ that installed the new update version said that the OS feel much smoother and if you’re running a stock firmware of Android 4.2 then you really should install the new version.
For this OTA update to show up on your phone, you will need to be on an unrooted Android 4.2 JOP40C firmware. If the update notification didn’t appear on your Samsung Galaxy Nexus, then you can open Settings, then About phone menu and after that you have to check the System Updates section to verify the Android 4.2.1 JOP40D Jelly Bean availability.
Note that, at the moment, the update is only pushed to Galaxy Nexus ‘yakju’ phones. These are the devices bought from Google’s US Play Store and not any other device.
