We were already expecting Google Nexus 7 tablet to be released at this year’s I/O conference and it’s been confirmed by an anonymous ASUS rep too. It seems like the Asus Nexus 7 is going to be released during Google I/O, which is scheduled for June 27 – 29.
We can also suppose that Google will release their new Android Jelly Bean 4.1 or 5 along with it and the Nexus 7 will probably come with it on-board. According to the ASUS representative, Google’s new Nexus 7 tablet will sport a 1.5Ghz quad-core Tegra 3 CPU, 1GB of RAM, and a 7-inch 1280×720 HD display. We currently don’t have information about other specs, though we can suppose it will come with a 5 or 8MP camera and no physical buttons.
We have been waiting for a new Android version and a Nexus tablet for a long time and it was the time for Google to release them. Hopefully they will manage to get Android Jelly Bean on older devices faster than they did with the Ice Cream Sandwich, which still hasn’t manage to reach a 10% market share of the Android platform.
Currently the Android 4 Ice Cream Sandwich is present on 7.1% of Android devices, while the 1.5 – 2.2 versions account for more than 25%. We don’t know yet if the Jelly Bean will e 4.1 or 5, though we should find out in less than two weeks.
