Honor 9i Debuts in India With an 18:9 Full HD+ Display and Four Cameras

Huawei sub-brand Honor has launched a new mid-range smartphone in India, dubbed the Honor 9i. The smartphone isn’t exactly all-new, as it made its Chinese debut as the Huawei Maimang 6 last month and was recently launched in Malaysia as the Huawei Nova 2i. In India, the Honor 9i has been priced at Rs.17,999 (234 EUR), which is pretty decent when considering the hardware specs on offer. It will be available in three colors – Aurora Blue, Prestige Gold, and Graphite Black. The smartphone will be sold in the country from October 14th onwards exclusively via online retailer Flipkart.

The Honor 9i features a 5.9-inch 1080 x 2160 Full HD+ display with an 18:9 aspect ratio and 2.5D curved glass on top. In terms of build, the Honor 9i boasts a metal body with a fingerprint sensor mounted at the rear. It runs on an octa-core Kirin 659 processor, clocked at a high 2.36 GHz. Handling the graphics is an ARM Mali-T830 MP2 GPU. In the memory department, Honor 9i comes equipped with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. If you wish to expand the storage further, you will need to add a microSD card into the second SIM slot, as the smartphone uses a Hybrid Dual SIM configuration.

Apart from its “bezel-less” display, the Honor 9i impresses in the camera department with a dual-camera setup both at the rear as well as at the front. The rear setup comprises a 16MP primary sensor coupled with a secondary 2MP sensor, while on the front you get a 13MP + 2MP configuration. For taking selfies in low-light, you also get a soft LED flash on the front. Connectivity features include Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2 Low Energy, GPS with GLONASS, and 4G LTE with VoLTE support. Keeping the lights on is a 3340mAh capacity battery. The smartphone measures 156.2 x 75.2 x 7.5mm and weighs in at 164 grams. On the software front, Honor 9i runs on Android 7.0 Nougat OS with EMUI 5.1 on top.

Honor is Huawei’s global e-brand. In India, Honor pioneered dual camera phones over the last 3 years. Our team has spent extensive time studying what consumers in this segment prefer and we have worked to raise the bar each and every time, creating industry’s new bench marks. Today with the launch of Honor 9i, we have ushered in 4-camera technology which is widely acclaimed for its excellent selfies and low light photography capabilities. We view Honor 9i as a never-before opportunity for consumers who wish to experience an outstanding product, commented P Sanjeev, Vice President Sales at Huawei India – Consumer Business Group.
