Samsung Galaxy S3 is the most powerful device on the market, though now you can even overclock it to make it even faster. Its 1.4Ghz quad-core Exynos processor can be overclocked to 1.8Ghz quite easily. The overclock can be achieved using the Ninphetamin3 kernel, which you can easily flash by using our guide below.
Please note that you probably won’t notice any significant improvement in speed and the device might also become hotter than the usual while running at the 1.8Ghz frequency. Also flashing anything on your device can be dangerous, so please take care and follow our guide carefully.
The Ninphetamin3 kernel does come with other features too, besides overclocking. These features include: CPU and GPU Voltage Control, compiler optimization, removal of debug overhead, and much more.
This kernel is only compatible with the Samsung Galaxy S3 i9300 and should not be flashed on any other device, not even the US Galaxy S3.
How to install the Ninphetamin3 Kernel on Galaxy S3 i9300
First we have to tell you that this kernel is only compatible with stock-based ROMs, so AOSP based ones like the CM9 and AOKP are not compatible and will not work with this kernel.
Before you begin flashing this kernel, make sure you meet the following:
- Battery has to be charged to at least 50%.
- You need the Samsung USB Drivers installed. For these you can install Kies and update it to the latest versions.
- You must have USB Debugging enabled on your device. To enable it, head over to Settings > Developer Tools and tick USB Debugging.
- Disable Kies, antivirus and firewall software on your computer, because they may interfere with the flashing operation.
You will now have to download the kernel here and Odin 3.04 here.
While your device is disconnected from the computer, launch Odin, click “PDA” and select the downloaded kernel. Make sure you don’t change anything else in Odin.
Turn off your device and boot in download mode by pressing simultaneously the following buttons: Volume down, home button and power button.
Now connect your device to the computer and press start in Odin.
If you encounter any issue during the update process or after the kernel is flashed, then try to flash it once again. If it still doesn’t work, then flash a stock firmware on your device.
How to overclock Galaxy S3 i9300
In order to overclock your device you will have to go over to settings and there you can find a lot of new options which can allow you to overclock and control the CPU and GPU voltage. Be very careful when changing anything there, because these options can damage your device.
Overclocking it is also risky as it causes your device to heat more than usual, which is not very good for the processor.
