We all have bookmarks on our PC’s, and we are all trying to move towards the smartphone world as far as internet browsing in concerned. Forget being stuck to the length of a wire for internet browsing and welcome to the era where the device you carry in your pocket is your new mobile PC. The only problem that keeps many of us from achieving this goal is the one of leaving behind our bookmarks. It often takes a lot of time for us to manually input the bookmarked address in our Android running device, so we prefer not to do it at all. This article is dedicated at presenting an easy and secure way of syncing your bookmarks between your PC Chrome browser and your Android browser so you can really transfer the internet browsing to the mobile device.
The synching between the two platforms will be done with the help of an application called ChromeMarks Lite. While syncing bookmarks between the Chrome browser version on Android and PC has been possible for quite some time now it does have some limitations as the Android version of Google’s browser only works on Android 4.0 ICS. While it is easy to transfer bookmarks from any other PC browser to Chrome it is not always easy to install an ICS ROM on your Android device. This little app named ChromeMarks Lite takes care of this problem.
Before installing the application on your Android device you have to set up the Sync process in the PC version of the Chrome browser. In order to do this you will have to navigate to the following path: Settings -> Options -> Personal Stuff -> Set up Sync. From here you will have to choose the bookmarks or choose to sync all the features Chrome has to offer. This syncing feature can prove useful if you have more than one computer or in this case a smartphone replacement.
From here on we will be covering setting up the ChromeMarks Lite application to allow the syncing of the bookmarks.
- The first step you have to take is as simple as installing the ChromeMarks Lite from this Play Store link.
- The second step is made up of skipping the tutorial of the app and then pressing the Sync button. The first time you press it the app will ask for permission to read your bookmarks. You need to allow it and then to press the Sync button again and simply wait a couple of minutes for the information to sync.
- The last step is made by the application itself as it presents you with a list of folders and bookmarks you should be familiar with. From here on all you have to do is to select the ones you like from the list and open them in your browser to continue the work from your PC on your Android device.
The free version of ChromeMarks Lite has a limitation that won’t allow you to automatically sync all the bookmarks but it will allow you to manually do it. This might sound like bad news for those of us who like speed above other aspects but it should not take you more than 5 minutes to sync all your important bookmarks.
Three easy steps are all it takes for you to have your bookmarks from the PC version of Chrome on your Android running device. This is yet another step in moving all your work from the PC to the Android platform and we hope we will more work towards this goal in the near future.
