HTC Google Nexus 8 To Replace Nexus 7, Release Date to Be September

We’ve been hearing a lot of rumors lately about the Google Nexus 8 and now we have one more saying it will be built by HTC and it’s going to replace the Nexus 7. Previously it was thought that Nexus 8 will come with a 8.9-inch display in order to replace the bigger Nexus 10.

If the rumor is true, it means we’re not getting a new Nexus 7 this year and Google will instead upgrade the Nexus 10, along with the release of this HTC Nexus 8.

We didn’t expect Google to pick HTC as their tablet maker, considering the Taiwanese maker doesn’t have even one tablet on the market right now. We also really thought they were going to ditch the Nexus 10, but it seems like we might have been wrong.

This report comes from the infamous Digitimes, a Korean publication well-known for their numerous rumors, that don’t turn out to be true every time.

If this turns out to be true, the Nexus 8 release date should be in September or October, this year, and we might also see a new Nexus 10 around the same date. We don’t have any clear information about this, unfortunately, but we are doing our best to find out.

We expect the Nexus 8 to be a bit more expensive than the previous Nexus 7. It might come with a $250 price tag if we’re lucky and it might come with very high-end specs, just like the Nexus 7. We don’t expect them to be able to make a very good 8-inch tablet while keeping the $200 price and we really hope it won’t go up to $300.

Once we find out more information about the rumored HTC Nexus 8, we’ll let you know. In the meantime we’re curious to know what you’d like from Google. A new Nexus 7, 8, or 10 ?
