While everyone might think that HTC is only focusing on providing the One, the company also announced that new updates will be released for several devices during the following weeks. So, according to Jack Tong, president of HTC North Asia, the first to receive an official OTA firmware is the HTC J Butterfly.
The upcoming software will bring Sense 5 UI to the owners of the J Butterfly along with other features and apps that have been spotted on the HTC One, so we are talking about important improvements. Therefore, features like BlinkFeed, or slide show capabilities for the camera are included on the new Sense 5.0 based OTA.
The exact date on which the firmware will be provided is still unknown, but according to the same sources the Sense 5 UI will embrace the HTC J Butterfly by the end of this month. Be aware as you will not be able to receive the OTA if your phone is currently rooted or installed with a custom ROM system; in that case you will have to manually flash the OS – stay close as we will bring a suitable step by step guide for you.
Anyway, we are looking forward in order to see whether the Verizon J Butterfly or the Verizon Droid DNA will receive the update or not as there are no info related to the same. Also, the best will be to notice that the HTC One X is enjoying the same treatment as the Butterfly though it is quite unlikely.
That was all for now. So, during the following weeks check the notifications on your handset and do share your impressions and thoughts about the same with us. Also, stay close as we will update you with news as soon as something fresh is being announced.
