HTC Readying Android-powered M4 and G2 Smartphones For 2013
Besides the M7 which will be the flagship of the Taiwan-based company, HTC is also planning two affordable models, that might hit the market this spring. The latest rumors are pointing that HTC M7 release date will be February 17th, ahead of MWC 2013, and a possible commercial launch by the end of the month.
The other two HTC models will probably not be announced at the same launch event as HTC M7. We might not even see them at MWC 2013, but they will reportedly hit the stores by the end of the spring.
HTC M4 and G2 are completing company’s portfolio, in the medium and budget segments, being the alternatives for those who can’t afford the M7 flagship.
According to UnwiredView, HTC M4 will be underpined by a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor clocked at 1.2 GHz, compared to the quad-core 1.7 GHz that will power the HTC M7.
While the flagship terminal will have a full HD 4.7-inch display, HTC M3 will boast a 4.3-inch 720p display. The touch panel might be the same unit used by the Taiwanese company for HTC 8X, the Windows Phone 8-powered flagship smartphone.
The primary 13 megapixel camera of the M4 has full HD video recording capabilities, while the front-facing unit has a 1.6 megapixel sensor. The HTC M4 technical specifications list includes 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal storage, without microSD card support, 1,700 mAh battery and 4G LTE.
HTC M4 will come pre-loaded with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean with HTC Sense 5.0 UI on top of it.
HTC G2 is a low-end terminal that will probably have an affordable price. The smartphone comes equipped with a single-core 1 GHz processor, 3.5-inch HVGA (480 x 320 pixels) display, 512 MB of RAM, 4 GB of internal storage and microSD card slot. The primary camera reportedly has a 5 megapixel sensor and the terminal is kept alive by a 1,400 mAh battery.
HTC G2 will come pre-loaded with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, similar to other cheap HTC smartphones like Desire C or Desire X.
