HTC won’t be short changing the hardware because they have a competing product out in 6 months. Good choice by Google. Actually an excellent one in that were the Nexus released by HTC as the One S even, it would have sold twice what it originally did and were they to have made it the One X… Apple would be throwing the kitchen sink at them instead of Samsung.
