The Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for HTC One started rolling out in Europe, just as the company promised last year. European HTC One users started receiving a 308 MB update that brings the software to version 4.19.401.8.
Usually it takes time until updates are rolled out to everyone, so you must be patient, because it might take some time until your HTC One will be updated to Android 4.4.2 KitKat. We expect everyone to receive the update by the end of the week, but it shouldn’t take that long, based on our previous experience.
The update brings all the features that come with Android 4.4 KitKat, which is a major update. We recommend you to read our article about Android 4.4 KitKat to learn everything about Google’s new operating system. Among other improvements and security fixes, the HTC One now supports Bluetooth profiles and cloud printing, but Flash is not supported anymore in the stock browser.
HTC Sense is still at version 5.5, which means you won’t see any major interface differences, except the battery indicator on the notifications bar is now white.
We also have good news for AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon HTC One users, as the Android 4.4. KitKat update is now under certification, which means it should land pretty soon. You can track the updates either by subscribing to our daily newsletter or directly on HTC’s website where they have information about all their smartphone updates.
We suggest you to update your HTC One as soon as possible, because it does come with really useful features and it should also make the smartphone more stable and faster. But take care, because the 308 MB update can trigger costs with your carriers, so you should do it while connected to a WiFi network.
Are you satisfied with HTC’s timing ? We’ve read a lot of complaints in the past about HTC and their updates, but now they seem to do a much better job, so we’re curious if you guys are satisfied.
