HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Editions Now Live on Google Play Store, Release Date set for July 9

Galaxy S4 and HTC One Google Editions now available from Google Play Store

Google Editions of HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S4 is now available from Google’s Play Store and you can purchase one right away, but the you will get your hands on them starting with 9th July.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Edition costs no less than $649, while the HTC One Google Edition is only $599. The Android 4.2 Jelly Bean stock firmware is the default OS and it is pure AOSP, which means that both smartphones have been stripped of all the Samsung / HTC bloatware add-ons. You can get your hands on one of these devices only if you’re based in the United States.

The shipping / release date for HTC One and Galaxy S4 Google Edition devices is July 9. There is no shipping fee and that’s because you still need to pay a hefty amount for one of these devices to be sent to your door step. As you know, the Nexus 4 comes with almost $10 shipping fee, but that’s understandable as you can get it for $300 – 8GB model, or $350 – 16GB model.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Edition packs a 5inch Full HD 1080p Super AMOLED, 16GB internal Storage that can be expanded up to 64GB via external SDcard, 1.9 Ghz Snapdragon 600 CPU, 2600 mAh battery, 13.1MP rear camera, 3G and LTE bands supporting T-Mobile and AT&T networks. The Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean is the default OS and you can also unlock the bootloader easy to tinker with the system’s OS, root it and install new ROMs or other customization files that are designed to enhance the Android experience. White is the color that Samsung decided to paint their unlocked SGS4 model.

HTC One Google Edition packs a 4.7-inch Full HD 1080p SuperLCD screen, 1.7 Ghz Snapdragon 600 CPU, 32GB internal storage space, no external SDcard slot, 2GB RAM, 2300 mAh battery, 4 Ultra Pixel camera, 3G and LTE bands working with AT&T and T-Mobile services. Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean is the default OS and it is an improvement from the stock HTC One device, whose owners are still waiting for the official Jelly Bean 4.2.2 OTA Update to be released. It will be available only in one color, silver.

HTC One Google Edition is available from Google Play Store for $599. Shipping date is set for July 9h.

The Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean that’s packed with these phones is also slightly different than the one already available on the Nexus devices. The camera interface has been changed and now you can switch between settings without your view being obstructed by your thumb. We will know more about all the other changes only when we will get our hands on them.

Decide for yourself which model you wish to purchase, but if it were for us, then we would recommend you to buy the HTC One. A reason behind that might be the pricing, which makes the HTC One $50 cheaper than the Galaxy S4.
