The HTC One Android 4.4.2 OTA update is now being pushed to Verizon’s users, soon after an HTC product manager announced that the US carriers has approved the KitKat update for its version of the phone. Even though the HTC representative hasn’t let us know when to expect the Android 4.4.2 update for the Verizon HTC One, Big Red started the update process soon after Mo Versi’s tweet.
The Android 4.4.2 OTA update for Verizon HTC One changes your build number to version 3.11.605.1 and, besides the usual KitKat goodies like transparent status bar, white status bar icons, immersive mode, and Printing option in Settings, it brings HTC’s latest Sense 5.5 UI.
Sense 5.5 allows the users to edit BlinkFeed content sources more easily, revamped Music and Gallery apps, and it brings other performance improvements and bug fixes. According to the Verizon HTC One Android 4.4.2 Update PDF the new firmware brings redesigned Location Settings, an easier way to add widgets to Lockscreen, power management enhancements, camera low light quality improvements, and more.
As usual, the Android 4.4.2 update for HTC One is being rolled out in phases, which means that not all Verizon users will be able to download and install it right away. If you received the system update message in the notification area all you need to do is click on it, hit download, wait, then hit the install button. If the system update notification didn’t pop up on your device it means that you would still have to wait a few days. Alternatively, you can try checking for it manually under Settings > About Phone > System update > Check for updates. Who knows, you might be lucky and find it in there.
