The Android 4.4.2 OTA update for HTC One Google Play Edition is now available for download, less then a week after the same firmware update has been released for the members of the Nexus tribe. The kernel source and framework files for the HTC One GPE Android 4.4.2 update were also posted by HTC in the dev center.
After you update you HTC One Google Play Edition to Android 4.4.2 the new firmware version will be labelled as 3.62.1700.1, which is actually 4.4.2 KOT49H. The new software update will bring your device up to date with the latest Android version.
The changes brought by the Android 4.4.2 update are not significant, but the new update will address the SMS exploit that it’s been known of for about a month and removes the App Ops.
As usual, the Android 4.4.2 OTA update for HTC One GPE is being rolled out in phases, so you might not be able to download and install it right away. If the system update message didn’t pop up in the notification area, you can perform a manual check under Settings > About phone > System update > Check now.
Alternatively you can download the OTA files from Google’s servers and flash it on your device using adb sideload or a customer recovery like TWRP.
