A new Android 4.4.2 update for HTC One M7 will be pushed to the Verizon owners by the end of the week. The new firmware brings the much awaited Sense 6.0 interface that debuted a couple of months ago on HTC’s One M8 flagship.
The announcement was made by Leigh Momii via Twitter, HTC’s Product Manager confirming that the HTC One M7 Sense 6.0 update will be rolled out at Verizon later this week.
Because all the KitKat-specific goodies such as transparent status and nav bar, white status bar icons, cloud printing, color emoji support, immersive mode, full screen album art in the lock screen, new Location menu, or Phone dialer with Caller ID were patched in the previous Android 4.4.2 update for Verizon HTC One M7, the new firmware will only bring improvements to the handset’s interface. Anyway, the unlocked One M7 models also received Extreme Power Saving Mode and a “Clear all” button for Recent Apps, so expect this two features to hit the Verizon variant, as well. Unfortunately, the highly-appreciated Motion Launch gestures were not patched in the new update, so I guess that HTC wants them exclusively for the One M8.
Not long ago, HTC America president Jason Mackenzie revealed that the One M7 will receive the Android 4.4.2 update with Sense 6.0 by the end of May so we’re glad to see that Verizon is sticking to the deadline.
Just like any other software update, the Android 4.4.2 update with Sense 6.0 for Verizon HTC One M7 will be rolled out in stages, meaning that some of you might not be able to download and install it right away. Once your terminal becomes eligible to receive the new firmware you should be able to see a system update message in the notification area. Anyway, it’s also worth checking for the update manually under Settings > About phone > Software updates > Check for updates.
