The HTC One M8 was officially unveiled on Tuesday, the Taiwan-based company announcing they will also release a Developer Edition of the handset. The HTC One Developer Edition order page is now live on HTC’s website.
The standard HTC One M8 was made available for purchase at Verizon on the very day of its announcement, the stock Android-powered HTC One M8 Google Play Edition went on sale on March 26, and starting today you can purchase the Developer Edition of the HTC flagship phone. The One M8 Developer Edition is running Android 4.4.2 KitKat with Sense 6.0, but unlike the standard model, it offers an unlockable bootloader.
Hardware-wise the HTC One M8 Developer Edition is identical to the standard mode: quad-core 2.3 GHz Snapdragon 801 processor, 1080p 5.0-inch Super LCD3 display, HTC BoomSound, Duo 4 MP UltraPixel Camera, 2 GB of RAM, 32 GB native storage, microSD card support (up to 128 GB), 2,600 mAh battery, and all the connectivity features worthy of a modern smartphone such as 4G LTE, WiFi, NFC, IR blaster, Bluetooth 4.0, and microUSB 2.0. Since the Developer Edition also comes with Sense 6.0, you’ll also be able to enjoy goodies like BlinkFeed, HTC Zoe, or Motion Launch.
The HTC One M8 Developer Edition is only available in Amber Gold and Gunmetal Gray at a price of $649. As you may see it has the same price as the unlocked standard variant and it’s $50 cheaper than the Google Play Edition variant which costs $699. HTC mentions that your Developer Edition smartphone will be shipped to you within 1 to 2 weeks after you place the order.
