IFA Berlin 2012: Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Revealed, Brings Quad-Core Exynos CPU And Android 4.1 Jelly Bean
Samsung Galaxy Note 2 was officially unveiled at Samsung Unpacked event hosted at IFA Berlin 2012 trade show. Actually the technical specifications and the official press photo of the next-gen Samsung phablet were revealed ahead of the official launch event, courtesy of a leaked press release.
Samsung Galaxy Note 2 brings a 5.5-inch HD Super AMOLED display, quad-core 1.6 GHz Exynos chipset, 2 GB of RAM, 16 / 32 / 64 GB of internal storage and microSD card slot, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean out of the box, 3G and 4G LTE, WiFi in all standards, Bluetooth, a new S-Pen, 8 megapixel primary camera, front-facing 1.9 megapixel camera, 3,100 mAh battery, is 9.4 mm thick and weighs in 180 grams.
These are the main technical specificationst of the Samsung Galaxy Note 2. This is definitely the most powerful smartphone of the South Korea-based phone maker, running on Google’s latest firmware, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Samsung managed to squeeze an even bigger battery inside, given that the weight and the with dropped. In terms of design, the new phablet looks like a Samsung Galaxy S3 on steroids.
Compared to the previous generation, the display’s resolution dropped from 1,280 x 800 to 1,280 x 736 pixels, and now has an aspect ratio of 16:9. Still, Galaxy Note 2 is not all about hardware specifications, as, just like it happened with Galaxy S3, Samsung have introduced a series of interesting apps and features that greatly improve the user experience.
The company chose to present and most likely promote it under the “Be Creative, Be Expressive” motto. There will be two body colors: white and gray, actually Marble White and Titanium Gray.
But let’s have a look at the new features the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 brings thanks to the Premium Suite package for Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.
AirView allows you to preview a thumbnail of the the content on your tablet, just by hovering the S-Pen over an icon. It works in mail, photo gallery, video files and S – Planner.
Quick Command brings a pop-up window of the applications customized for the S-Pen. The Quick Command menu appears each time the users swypes up while holding the dedicated button of the S-Pen stylus.
The Screen Recorder feature allows you to record anything happens on your Galaxy Note 2′s display. On the other hand Popup Note extends the Popup Play concept. The S-Note application will appear on ones screen while in a call, as soon as the S-Pen is pulled out.
With Easy Clip you can underline and crop selected content from the phablet’s 5.5-inch display. You can then edit and share the picture. Idea Visualizer brings the handwriting illustrations in the S-Note messages. Each user will now be able to bring its own illustrations in the preset list.
It looks like Samsung is sure that Galaxy Note 2 will be a successful device and this time it seems that the South Koreans have figured out what the users really need. So, is the Samsung Galaxy S3 – Samsung Galaxy Note 2 team strong enough to beat the threat called iPhone 5 / the new iPhone.
